Pomona Valley Section NCNW is excited to establish the Shiras Educational Scholarship to empower and uplift single parents in their academic pursuits. Our organization firmly believes in the transformative power of education and recognizes the unique challenges that single parents face in their pursuit of higher learning.

Pomona Valley Section NCNW is committed to promoting community involvement, educational achievement, and self-pride in the Pomona Valley region. We are further committed to the fulfillment of Mary McLeod Bethune's legacy, which is to "Leave no one behind." Recognizing the challenges that single parents face, we have established the Shiras Educational Scholarship to offer financial assistance and encouragement to those striving for academic excellence while managing the responsibilities of parenthood.

The Shiras Educational Scholarship will be awarded to FOUR single parents who demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, and a strong commitment to their educational goals. We are pleased to offer a scholarship of $2,500 to each recipient for educational expenses, including tuition, textbooks, and other associated costs.

Single parents often face unique challenges in pursuing higher education, as they must balance the demands of parenting, work, and academic responsibilities. By specifically targeting this demographic, we aim to provide financial support and a source of encouragement and recognition for their remarkable dedication.
